UK Tyres have been servicing air-conditioning in cars for a number of years now and we are one of very few garages locally who can recharge newer model cars with the new HFO R1234yf gas as well as older vehicles that use the more common R134A gas.
Experiencing the benefits of air con in your vehicle on a hot day has become the standard procedure with over two thirds of all vehicles manufactured, climate control systems and air conditioning are fitted as standard. But just like other parts of your car, the air conditioning system also needs regular attention to ensure it continues to work efficiently and effectively.
Manufacturers recommend your air con system is recharged with gas and lubricant every 2 years as air conditioning systems can lose refrigerant gas over time, this means they will be less effective and have to work harder to produce cool air. This puts more strain on the engine and uses more fuel, especially if they aren’t used regularly. We do not provide this service as part of routine vehicle servicing, so if your vehicle is more than 2 years old it’s probably due to an air con recharge.
The recharge process is quite simple with the right equipment. It involves removing any old refrigerant gas and oil from your air con system before replacing this with the correct amount of new refrigerant and lubricant that your vehicle manufacturer’s specifies. Performing a vacuum test before new gas and oil is replaced ensures there are no cracks or damage in your air conditioning system that could cause the gas to leak out.
With the new EU F-Gas regulations the buying and selling of R134a refrigerant have caused prices to hike so please contact our North London Branch on 0208 616 7009 for up to date price to recharge your vehicles air con system.
